Through research, the objective of this project was to visually demonstrate the profound positive impact of natural landscapes on human mental health and well-being, emphasizing tranquility, restoration, and emotional connection. Studies have shown that spending a minimum of 20 minutes outside in the natural world participating in a range of activities can significantly improve and boost a person's psychological health and benefits physical health as well
This project features a collection of Landscapes, which were captured using 35mm Film and developed using environmentally sensitive methods to ensure an ethical, low-impact photographic practice. The images aim to show the beauty of the landscape but also allow the viewer to link their emotions to each image as when photographing every photo had an emotion hidden within. They were developed using a fresh plant-based developer to ensure minimal impact to the environment as most photographic chemicals are toxic and will negatively impact the flora and fauna. By maintaining this ethical standard, the work itself embodies the respect for nature required for ensuring psychological benefits.
